Dr. Barfield received the Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, La. He completed his residencies at Louisiana State University in New Orleans and Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, La. He completed his Fellowship at Schumpert Medical Center and Louisiana State University Shreveport Medical School in Shreveport, La. Dr. Barfield completed an Advanced Laparoscopic Colon and Rectal Preceptorship at Colon and Rectal Specialists in Richmond, Va. Dr. Barfield is Board Certified in General Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery. Dr. Barfield holds membership in the Louisiana State Medical Society, the Catholic Medical Association, and the Piedmont Society – Southeastern Colon and Rectal Society.
